OMG and ONIC sit relatively in the middle of the leaderboard, however the hunger does not seem to waver just yet. Who will rewrite their story in the second half of the regular season? Who will bring forth a new spark of momentum in the remaining four weeks?

OMG wanted to get rid of sustain-heavy heroes, meanwhile ONIC took out heroes with high mobility. OMG prioritized the Fredrinn as they sat on the blue side for this game, meanwhile ONIC responded with the Kaja and Valentina picks. OMG wanted to go a more teamfight-oriented route by selecting the Yve and Arlott on their side. Overall, both teams were relatively balanced, and it was a matter of positioning in teamfights to determine who will have the upper hand.

OMG drew first blood, however ONIC was the team who secured the first Turtle. ONIC continued to lead in terms of neutral objectives, as their setups before crucial fights were on point thanks to Kekedoot and Ryota. OMG, specifically Mikko, needed to find members from ONIC through pickoffs in order to equalize and come back in the game, however Mikko’s hooks do not seem to land. Alternatively, OMG needed to sustain the barrage of damage of ONIC and retaliate afterwards. The first Lord went into the hands of OMG, resulting in ONIC only left with their inhibitor turrets. ONIC took the second Lord this time, however OMG partially wiped them out. By the 15th minute, it started to become a back-and-forth game between the two teams. OMG were able to pick off Sensui, which was a go signal to take down the Lord. Surprisingly, the gold lead was not that significant as the game approached the 20-minute mark. After a Lord fight that lasted for more than 5 minutes, OMG took down the Lord which enabled them to siege their opponent’s base, however ONIC was able to endure and eventually wipe out OMG. Due to the insanely lengthy respawn timers, OMG were not able to defend, and ONIC bounced back, winning the first game, 1-0.

Both teams revealed their junglers right away, with ONIC securing Fredrinn as their first pick, and OMG responding with the Lancelot. A surprising Natalia and Lunox pick were drafted by ONIC – two heroes that have strong damage output. On the other hand, OMG drafted the Brody and the staple Arlott for a reliable mid game power spike. Overall, ONIC possessed a lot of disruption, but OMG can be very slippery in skirmishes and teamfights.

OMG took down the first Turtle of the game with no casualties, as the early game was relatively slow and quiet until the 3rd minute, wherein ONIC drew first blood. It was a very even game between both teams, as kills and gold were pretty much equal during the first 8 minutes, with ONIC leading slightly by one turret taken down. As both teams started the first Lord fight, it was OMG who won after an extended clash due to the presence of Cult Altars from both sides. With this, OMG gained the map pressure against ONIC in preparation for the next neutral objective. By the 17th minute, OMG was able to seek the base of ONIC, thanks to Renzio’s set up with the Arlott followed by Kelra and Stowm’s damage. OMG extended the series with their gameplay of controlled aggression, 1-1.

OMG prioritized the Fredrinn this time around for game 3, while ONIC denied the Chou then drafted the Yve and Gloo. OMG responded with Valentina and Arlott once again, meanwhile ONIC took Claude, a famous hero in the MPL metagame. Martis was drafted by ONIC, but it was unusual due to its low win rate in the MPL. Overall, both teams are relatively even when it comes to their compositions and win conditions.

A small skirmish happened on the EXP Lane, wherein Ryota was traded for Renzio. It was ONIC who secured the first Turtle, but OMG were able to find hero pickoffs to compensate. It seemed like OMG were hungry for blood, with 7 kills after 4 minutes. This lead could potentially result in OMG snowballing approaching the mid to late game. OMG eventually took down the first Lord, and they slowly cleared their opponents’ turrets. ONIC could not find a pickoff onto the back line of OMG since the Barangay sensed where Kekedoot lurked. As OMG secured the second Lord, it was their game to lose, as they slowly sieged into the base of ONIC, leaving it exposed with no more turrets. A beautiful set up by Mikko enabled OMG to continue another siege and eventually the win against ONIC, 2-1.
