The Champion has been crowned in the final series of the MPL PH Season 9 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay, where the lower bracket underdogs OMG faced their final boss RSG, who have been consistently dominating in the upper bracket.

Season 9 MVP Light and the squad will have to face the former MSC Champions, the Kings of SEA OMG in a best of 7 series to decide who will be crowned as the grand champions, casted by the well – known ManjeanBoo duo and Wolf as the analyst.

The arena was gripped with fear and tension as all games were all hard fought and did not let any window of error show up. RSG, with all tricks ready in their sleeves, have flicked all of their cards to assert dominance in the whole playoffs week, and be crowned as the MPL PH Season 9 Champions.

Similar to the series against TNC, RSG continue to have their dominating streak against Barangay Omega in the first game. Light starts the action with the Franco hooks coming in for easy pickoffs which allowed Emann’s Brody to get multiple kills early in the game and let Nathzz terrorize enemy territory with a bruiser, sprinting Esmeralda. Aqua also joins in the fray with the Xavier, adding to the bright path RSG had set themselves to take the first game, 22 kills to 8, denying the Omega timer pop off.

The second game became much of a conservative battle of strategy and execution. Multiple teamfights occurred and objectives were secured by both teams, yet the first blood of the match was called in the 7-minute mark of the game. Despite denying the bloodbath in the Land of Dawn, OMG took the early advantage by securing more turrets and major objectives to slowly crawl their way into the base of RSG.

Ch4knu’s Mathilda pick proved to be the savior of the whole barangay when he used all of his kit to save his teammates, initiate and disengage the clash, and give vision to his squad. The game concludes in 13 minutes with only two overall kills, all in OMG and will tie the series 1-1

The third game took a different pace when Demonkite locked in Lancelot and give Light the opportunity to use Franco who again shook the arena when he allowed the rest of the team to tear down the fishes caught by hooks. The early stages of the game were easily handed to RSG because of the presence of Franco’s hooks and the systematic shotcalling coordinated by the whole squad.

OMG looked favorable in the draft however as Ch4knu was given the opportunity to lock in the Atlas for the possible setups for Kelra’s Clint and Raizen’s Karina to surgically seize their victory.

But pickoff after pickoff, RSG snowballed through the advantageous start that they have gathered to divide the floor of the game and let Nathzz’ Dyroth and Emann’s Brody finish off necessary targets to wipe out the whole OMG squad in the final minutes of the game to take the lead.

With RSG now getting the upper hand in the series, they now look to troubleshoot all their previous mistakes and go with their comfortable picks with the likes of Demonkite’s Karina, Esmeralda on Nathzz and the late game carry Cecilion on Aqua. OMG, on the other hand, now have the classic Barats Mathilda duo that looked to be strong on skirmishes to tie the series.

As the focus for RSG was to let Aqua stack his damage, the spotlight was clearly shining on him on OMG as they wanted to take him down as fast as possible and deny the vampiric hero’s ticking time bomb. The squad was able to take down Aqua and delay his scaling in the early game. However, efficiency was the key for the team as Emann’s Clint and Light’s Chou worked together to take the primary targets of OMG, keeping the game close in the gold gain and the objective takes.

It was time for RSG to get their raid online in the later stages of the game when the items were now in their inventories and, despite keeping the kill scores close, capture the lords and kept OMG in their base as they continue to pillage through the towers and secure the odds to their hands. With the control handled by RSG and OMG crippled by Aqua pouring the damage, they now take the series one win away to be crowned as champions.

In what looked to be the end for barangay Omega, the fifth game of the series became the absolute opportunity to prove their underdog story. Going for the deciding draft that could show the redemption story of the whole squad’s playoffs fate.

It looked to be a successful early game for RSG with Aqua’s Kagura bursting down targets paired with Emann’s Wanwan that continued to demolish enemy frontlines and cancel out Kelra’s opportunity to get their own favorable battles with his Karrie pick. Ch4knu’s Estes was the primary savior of their redemption story with the Estes pick that mitigated the heavy damage their opponents were able to dish out. Raizen also saved the day in his Karina that denied the lord takes that almost secured RSG’s opportunity to siege through and take the championship win.

In what seemed to be a winnable situation for OMG, RSG found the windows of error being concealed by their enemies, catching the likes of Renzio in the final minute of the game and forced E2MAX to use the Yve’s Real-World Manipulation to take out the possible abilities to defend the base and allow EMANN to utilize the full potential of the Wanwan and Light’s Khufra to breach through the frontlines and rip the redemption story of OMG of a comeback sweep.

After a hard fought, well calculated 24-minute battle where all tactics converged, RSG finally take the series win to take the trophy as the champions of the season. Nathzz will take home the MVP title for the champion team. RSG and OMG will represent the Philippines in the upcoming MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2022 in Malaysia where OMG will look to shine their way back and defend their regional trophy.
