TWO TEAMS on the opposite spectrum in their respective MPL regions went head-to-head in the MPL Invitational 2022 as the Filipino runner ups ECHO PH clashed against Indonesia’s heavily criticized EVOS Legends.

While ECHO has the advantage given their momentum in Season 10, it was EVOS Legends who surprisingly quieted the Orcas as they stood victorious with a 2-1 series win.

They’ll be facing the victor of the match between Bren Esports and Bigetron Alpha.

ECHO PH left with no answers against EVOS

In Game 1, ECHO PH’s lineup featured an extremely dash centric lineup featuring Grock, Benedetta, Martis, and Gusion. While this could have produced explosive results and surprise entrances, EVOS’ lineup was able to sustain their assaults with their Kadita, Masha, and Irithiel picks.

Rizqi “Saykots” Damank’s Masha absorbed most of the damage output from the Orcas, then easily squeezed his way into the lanes to assault Jankurt “KurtTzy” Matira’s Gusion.

Looking unkillable in this game, Saykots became a massive distraction for ECHO, allowing the rest of EVOS can secure the other objectives.

Then when it came to teamfights, the Kadita, Irithiel, and Paquito combo provided the bombard. These mobile heroes also allowed them to slip out of any sticky situations.

With the Orcas scrambling in most fights, EVOS secured their Game 1 win.

Though EVOS Game 1 win was a momentum booster, it didn’t last long as ECHO was able to adjust their tactics and weaken Saykots Masha. In the end, the Orcas tied the series 1-1.

But in Game 3, EVOS proved their drafting prowess, fielding an extremely mobile lineup featuring Mathilda, Claude, Gusion, and Lylia picks.

From the get go, EVOS didn’t hesitate to engage. With ECHO targeting Dalvin “Hijume” Ramadhan, the Orcas wasted most of their abilities. This allowed EVOS to capitalize on their mobility and overwhelm their foes on the counterattack.

There was nothing that ECHO could do in this match and things reached a downward slope especially with Frederic Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales struggling to find room to gain resources, leading to EVOS’ 2-1 win.
